Was planning a sunset photo of the old pier at Cat Bay with my new 14-35mm lens, but as soon as I drove over the bridge to Phillip Island, the sun disappered behind a huge bank of clouds. This changed the composition to a more moody shot.35mm at f8 for 2 seconds, no ND filter used as it was quite dark already.

Calm waters on this day. Got here early and walked from Chelsea Beach to Carrum Beach looking for any other interesting subjects and compositions. At Carrum, nothing really caught my eye so started heading back along the beach and taking a few shots along the way.The following always happens and is part of the fun. You see the sky beginning to put on a show and you start running back to the main spot and quickly get out the gear. All in all, a decent show of vibrant reds and violets!

It was nothing but grey skies and rain for days on end, but I decided that you don't always need epic sunsets for great photos. The dull weather also allowed me to get a 20 second exposure with an ND1000 filter giving that classic wispy water look. A wide angle lens allowed me to get nice and close and emphasize the subject, being that close also meant there was some close calls with the occasional freak wave coming up to where I had my tripod and me running back up the beach to escape them
